Bring One Work Trick to The Forge This Wednesday

The Tricks of the Trade flyer: SodaGo, The Forge and Crawl Your Own Way over a fall storefront, with October 28th, 6:00 to 8:00 PM, The Forge

Tricks of the Trade is a free networking night for local small businesses, freelancers and anyone who works for themselves.

The idea is simple: bring one useful trick from your trade — maybe a sales line, an AI prompt, a money tip or a shortcut that saves you time — and swap ideas with other people in the room.

It runs from 6 to 8 PM at The Forge in downtown Beaumont. Costumes are optional, and SodaGo is bringing the drinks.

📍 The Forge, 268 Pearl St, Beaumont

🕐 Wed Oct 28 · 6 to 8 PM

The Rocky Horror Show is hitting the stage in Orange this Friday — and yes, this is the live stage version, not the movie.

The audience can join in with callbacks and the Time Warp, costumes are encouraged, and Friday gets two chances to see it: a 7:37 PM curtain and a midnight show.

The run continues Nov 6 and 7, with proceeds supporting Orange Community Players and Extreme Giving Charity.

🕐 Fri Oct 30 · 7:37 PM and midnight

SETX History

Batson Struck Oil on Halloween in 1903

On October 31, 1903, the Paraffine Oil Company's No. 1 Fee well struck oil at 790 feet, about a mile north of Batson in Hardin County.

That discovery opened the Batson-Old oilfield and put Batson alongside Spindletop and Sour Lake during Southeast Texas' first oil boom. By 1993, the field had produced more than 45 million barrels.
